Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. What's the difference?
Photoshop
You take your photos, you then notice that there's a pimple, a spot, an imperfection on the photo. There might be a rubbish bin in front of that beautiful house you need to remove. Or you may need to adjust the exposure. This is the job of Adobe Photoshop. So some of the things you should do with Photoshop are:
- Trimming and Cropping photographs
- Removing unwanted items from photographs
- Repairing old photographs, removing the cracks
Illustrator
You're an artist, armed with a graphics tablet or with exceptional mouse skill. You need to create a company logo along with conceptual graphics for your brochures, magazines, and banners for exhibitions. Things you can use Illustrator for are:
- Designing company logos
- Painting and Drawing
- Connecting up your graphics tablet and letting your artistic juices flow
- Converting raster graphics into vector
InDesign
Now that you've taken your photos and created your logos, it's time to bring them all together in a brochure. For that, you would use Adobe InDesign. You would use InDesign for:
- Designing Brochures and Books
- Creating Flyers and Leaflets
- Typing your copy text
